J.E.Foster recently adopted Mason Elementary in the St. Louis Public School District as part of the Kids Vision for Life program. This program, run by STLArchs.org helps combat one of the most common handicapping conditions in America, vision disorders. Over the last 4 years, more than 30,000 school-aged students have been screened. Of those screened, 3,550 were prescribed free eyeglasses.
How it Works
Kids Vision for Life provides these free eye screenings to K-8 students at identified St. Louis area (Title 1) schools. Free eye examinations are then given to students who fail the screening, and students who fail the examinations are given a free pair of eyeglasses.
Our Involvement
The first screening at our newly adopted Mason Elementary was November 5th, 2013. Outfitted in hard hats and ear-to-ear grins, the students at Mason Elementary were a blast to hang out with. We are looking forward to our continued work with this excellent program, its organizers, and the children it serves.
